ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr Lisa Schofield
My name is Lisa Schofield and I am an educator and freelance writer with a passion for land management. I firmly believe that all learning is about being in a place of receptivity for knowledge and a recognition of the part that ego plays in preventing new learning due to the difficulty in releasing long held unhelpful beliefs caused by incorrect learning. I have an obsession with land management as a consequence of keeping horses on livery yards and then moving to a situation in which I could manage my own land and implement my own ideas. In this latter situation, I have watched the physical and psychological health of my horses improve with changes to the traditional husbandry and land care espoused by poorly run livery yards and passed culturally as the norm.  I believe that understanding the soil biome is paramount in managing the grazing needs of horses, together with a good awareness of the chemicals necessary for plant health and an understanding of horse psychology and how these aspects of horse management are inter related.  I have learned practically, mainly by trial and error, with each new problem bringing new learning and I have learned by making mistakes. This has brought me to a place in which I am happy to share the information I have learned with others. I spend as much time learning, researching and implementing land management approaches as most do holding down their full time jobs and bringing up children. Soil sustainability, rotational grazing and the creation of a self sufficient permaculture is paramount to my practice. I am a retired teacher, lecturer and educational psychologist and hope I can impart knowledge to others in a way in which they can learn.
Land management for horses is a non profit organisation.
